The accordion's use in the traditional chamber-music-type-format becomes a refreshingly new concept in the hands of accordionist/composer Nick Ariondo. Nick's Kalamatiano for Viola and Acccordion was winner of the Ancona Prize of Italy where he became the very first American to be awarded this coveted prize . . . The Nick Ariondo Chamber Ensemble has performed on radio, on cable television and in concert, including universities and colleges. The Ariondo Ensemble can vary in number and size with the accordion as the focal point, performing a myriad of musical styles.

"Nick Ariondo is a brilliant success!" Zubin Mehta
This was Zubin Mehta's response to Nick Ariondo after a rousing performance of Chaikin's Concerto No. 1 in B flat for Accordion and Orchestra at U.C.L.A.'s Royce Hall, conducted by Mehli Mehta with the American Youth Symphony. Nick received a five-minute standing ovation as the audience witnessed a revelation in accordion history. Among others, Nick has performed with the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Desert Symphony of Palm Springs, etc. The Accordion Concerto in G minor by Nick Ariondo/Edward Hosharian was aired on cable television and is now available on video.
